U.S. executions in 2008.
Numbering is from the first post-Furman execution, that of Gary Gilmore in Utah on 17 January 1977.
A total of 42 executions were carried out during 2007, 41 by lethal injection and 1 by electrocution.  Michael Richard becoming the last on September 25th, prior to suspension of executions whilst the Supreme Court decided on the constitutionality of lethal injection.  Executions resumed on May 6th 2008.

All executions are carried out for 1st degree murder and use lethal injection unless otherwise indicated after the prisoner's name.
