The USA executed 27 men and one woman in 6 states during 2015, down from 33 in 7 states in 2014. These 28 had 43 victims.
All executions during 2015 were by lethal injection.
49 people were sentenced to death in the USA this year, down from 72 in 2014.
Texas carried out 13 executions, Missouri 6, Georgia 5, Florida 2, Oklahoma and Virginia 1 each.
One woman was executed in Georgia. 31 states have death penalty statutes as 31/12/2015 and just under 3,000 inmates were on death row at this time in 35 states and the Federal Government.
All executions are carried out for 1st degree murder and are by lethal injection unless otherwise indicated after the prisoner's name.
