U.S. executions in 2025.

Numbering is from the first post-Furman execution, that of Gary Gilmore in Utah on January 17, 1977.

Nine states carried out 25 executions in 2024 - Alabama 6, Florida 1, Georgia 1, Indiana 1, Missouri 4, Oklahoma 4, South Carolina 2, Texas 5, and Utah 1. 

Ten states sentenced 21 people to death in 2024 – Alabama 4, Arizona 1, California 3, Florida 7, Idaho 1, Mississippi 1, Nevada 1, Ohio 1, Tennessee 1, and Texas 6.

27 states have retained the death penalty.  2,216 inmates were on death row as of January 2024, including 50 women and those sentenced by the US military and the Federal Government.

All executions are carried out for 1st degree murder and are by lethal injection unless otherwise indicated after the prisoner's name.
